Many cordless phones now have more than a single handset. The multi-handset models can support multiple cordless handsets. This feature lets you expand your phone system, adding phone extensions throughout your home or office. This feature allows you to intercom or conference other users in other rooms and transfer calls to a handset. This feature is very beneficial for areas where a phone jack is not easily available or conveniently located.

The additional handsets you buy will need to be the same as your base multi-handset capable phone system. Manufacturers create specific additional handsets that will work only with certain phone systems; they will not work, for example, with multi-handset capable phones of other brands.

You can purchase a multi-handset system which includes a base (which supports multiple handsets) and one handset. Or if you have the base, you can purchase additional handsets.
